Join this class to learn the basics of contemporary hand lettering using brush pens.

In this fun and hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the foundations of brush lettering using a brush pen. The class will begin with an introduction to this form of modern calligraphy and will quickly progress into a fun and practical workshop where you will learn how to create different pressures and strokes with your brush pen.

Perfecting brush lettering is all about practice, so you’ll go through a series of writing exercises to familiarise yourself with the eight main strokes that are used when creating the alphabet in uppercase and lowercase.

Our experienced teacher will be there to help you along with live demonstrations and one-on-one guidance as you work through the foundations of brush lettering. At the end of the workshop, you will leave with all of the skills to practice at home and surprise your loved ones with beautiful handwritten creations.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Hand Lettering course, you should be able to:

• Have a basic understanding of the forms of modern calligraphy
• Use the eight main strokes learnt in the course when writing with a brush pen
• Use a brush pen to write uppercase and lowercase letters.

What will be covered in this Hand Lettering: Brush Pen Course?

• Learn about the different styles of modern calligraphy 
• Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of using brush pens, including how to hold and control the pen, apply pressure for thick and thin strokes, and create different letterforms.
• Write the alphabet in lower and uppercase using calligraphy techniques
