Led by experienced members of the Sydney City Bonsai Club, this course is designed as a practical, in-person experience where you’ll learn how to create your very own bonsai tree from scratch.

In this one-day intensive session, you'll be guided step-by-step through the entire process, from selecting and preparing your tree, to shaping, potting, and caring for your finished bonsai. All tools are provided on the day, and you’ll leave the course with a completed bonsai to take home and continue nurturing.

Perfect for complete beginners, this course breaks down the core principles of bonsai into simple, engaging lessons. Alongside hands-on activities, you'll also gain insights into bonsai history, aesthetics, and ongoing care techniques.

By the end of the day, you’ll not only have a beautiful new plant but also the skills and confidence to continue your bonsai journey at home.

Course Format

• One-day intensive: ~6 hours
• Held at our Rozelle Campus
• All tools and equipment provided
• Students take their bonsai home at the end of the day

Course Materials

What's included:

• A tree suitable for bonsai
• Bonsai pot
• Bonsai soil mix
• All tools loaned for use during class
• Instruction from experienced bonsai tutors

Optional: Students may bring their own tree if preferred. Tools may also be available for purchase after the class.
