Privacy Policy
Keeping information secure is a priority for Sydney Community College. We respect the privacy of both our students and staff, and are committed to handling all personal information responsibly and in accordance with Australian privacy law.
Record Keeping and Your Personal Information
How We Use Your Information
Information provided by individuals to the College is used to facilitate access to, and participation in, our education and training courses — including enrolment. The College takes all steps to ensure that personal details of students and staff are not released to unauthorised persons or organisations, and that personal information is kept secure in appropriate filing systems and record repositories before the ultimate destruction of records.
Australian Privacy Principles
The College adheres to the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) issued by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under the Privacy Act 1988. This includes observing the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme established under the Act where and when required.
Disability Services
The College is committed to the inclusion of people with disability for their value and participation in the community. We adhere to the National Standards for Disability Services in keeping the personal information of those who access our programmes secure and confidential.
Urgent Concerns
If you have an urgent concern that personal information collected by the College is incorrect and/or is not properly secure, please contact the Principal at principal@sydneycommunitycollege.edu.au or call 02 8752 7555.
Website Privacy
Automatically Collected Information
All Sydney Community College websites automatically collect a certain amount of information when you browse or use them. This data is used for statistical and business purposes such as diagnosing faults and improving our services. Any information collected through automated mechanisms does not identify individuals and will only be used for the purpose for which it was collected. It is not accessible except to authorised staff, and may be published as aggregated (de-identified) information to assist with improving the services offered through the website.
Security Measures
The College has security measures in place, based on a risk assessment process, to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of information. Some information and transactions are encrypted. Where you access a College website using a secure login (teaching staff and students), the information held about you is protected by restricting access through that login. You must ensure your password is not disclosed or made available to others.
IT Security Concerns
If you have an urgent concern that the College IT system has been breached and personal information is not properly secure, please notify the Principal at principal@sydneycommunitycollege.edu.au or call 02 8752 7555.
Marketing
College Marketing
The College sends mail and emails to students and past students for marketing purposes. Students may at any time request that all such marketing cease, and all requests will be promptly complied with. The College will from time to time also contact students by post or telephone for College-related marketing activities. Students who request so will be removed from any marketing lists.
No personal information is ever or will ever be disclosed to unauthorised persons, organisations, or overseas recipients.
Secondary Marketing
The College does not allow for the use of student information for any secondary marketing not related to the College.
