Teach with us

Teach with us at Sydney Community College

Share your skills. Inspire our community.

At Sydney Community College, we love connecting passionate teachers and organisations with thousands of local learners every year. There are two main ways you can teach with us:

Course Tutors

Individuals who deliver classes on our campus, sharing their expertise directly with local learners.

Course Partners

Organisations or practitioners already running their own programs who'd like to reach a bigger audience.

Both options directly support our work as a charity, helping us fund community education programs for disadvantaged learners.

Why Teach with Sydney Community College?

We're a not-for-profit education provider based in Balmain with a long tradition of bringing people together to learn, connect, and grow. Each year, more than 7,000 students join our courses, and over 40,000 people engage with our wider learning community.

When you teach with us, you're not only sharing your knowledge and skills — you're also making a meaningful difference. As a charity, the income from our community classes directly funds our outreach programs, providing free or subsidised training for disadvantaged members of the community, including refugees, people experiencing homelessness, and others facing barriers to education.

Become a Course Tutor

Do you have a skill, craft, or area of expertise you'd love to share? Joining our team of tutors is a rewarding way to inspire others and be part of our community.

You can bring your own course idea to us, or we may invite you to teach one of our existing programs. Classes are usually delivered at our Rozelle campus or another agreed venue. Tutors are engaged either on a casual basis (including superannuation) or by invoice, depending on what works best. Some tutors also choose to volunteer their time as a way of giving back to the community.

Becoming a tutor is not only a great way to share your passion and knowledge, but also an opportunity to develop your teaching experience and join a supportive local college making a real difference.
