Explore different mediums of narrative story-telling: creative non fiction, in particular short non fiction stories; fiction: short stories and novels. Also look at travel writing, blogging and flash fiction. This course will help you to explore the premise that you want to write about and how to launch into a short form story or novel. Get inspired as you learn about the benefits of writing and how to create a routine to write.

By the end of this creative writing course, you will have enhanced your career prospects by:
- You will learn about the mediums of short non fiction stories, short fiction stories, novels, travel-writing, blogs and flash fiction.
- You will have an idea of which form suits you best.
- You will have an understanding of how to consider a premise for a story and how to launch into writing it.
- You will have an understanding of how to flesh out a character and their motivations that drive the plot.
- You will have an insight into the process of writing a novel based on a premise.
- You will have tips on how to create a routine to write.

Intended audience
Who is this creative writing course for?
This course is designed for beginners: to start you off writing. It is also helpful for people who have started writing but need inspiration on how to continue.
You will be asked to share some of the work that you write in class. Whilst this is optional, it is encouraged.
It is not a technical workshop. The tutor does not critique the work, only listens to your work for the purpose of encouragement. Novel-writing is discussed in terms of how to begin and launch yourself. There will be a focus on character development and how the character drives the plot. However, a detailed analysis of plot and novel structure is not given.
