What you'll learn
Learn video editing and production in this video editing course with our video courses in Sydney.
In this practical online course, you'll learn to edit video using DaVinci Resolve 21 Free, one of the most powerful editing applications available without a subscription. DaVinci Resolve has become a major force in digital audio-visual production because it brings professional editing, colour correction, visual effects, motion graphics, audio post-production and exporting into one application. Instead of jumping between several separate programs, students learn how a modern post-production workflow can move from importing media, to editing, sound, colour and delivery inside one integrated environment.
Resolve 21 is a major leap forward for digital AV editing. It continues to offer a serious professional editing platform in a free version, while also introducing new tools and workflow improvements that reflect the way today’s creators work across video, audio, still images, online delivery and client review.
This course is designed as a first practical course, not an encyclopedia of every feature in DaVinci Resolve. Resolve is a large professional application with multiple pages and many specialist tools. In this course, the focus is on the essential skills beginners need first: setting up projects properly, organising media, building a clean edit, improving pacing, working with multicamera material, balancing sound, applying simple colour correction and exporting finished work.
Students will not cover every feature on every page of Resolve 21. Instead, they will learn the core workflow and good editing habits that make the rest of the application easier to understand later.
Edit videos with software used across commercials, music videos, documentaries, online content and feature production — without the big-studio price tag. DaVinci Resolve 21 Free runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and is far more approachable than its reputation may suggest when taught step by step.
In this practical course, you will go from a blank timeline to a polished export using workflows editors rely on every day, from Hollywood studios to documentary developers and everyone in between. You will learn clean editing fundamentals, timeline organisation, scene construction, on-screen titles, transitions, audio balancing, basic colour correction and export settings for online delivery or client review.
Along the way, you will also learn time-saving habits that translate to almost any editing project, whether you are making YouTube videos, training content, social media clips, documentaries, family-history projects, promotional videos or short creative work.
