In this course, you’ll move beyond basic phrases and begin using Indonesian more actively in real-life situations. You’ll expand your vocabulary, strengthen your grammar, and develop the confidence to express yourself more clearly in everyday conversations.

Classes are practical, interactive and focused on communication. Through guided speaking and listening activities, you’ll practise using Indonesian in a range of situations — from asking for help and giving directions to making requests and handling common travel scenarios. You’ll also continue building your understanding of Indonesian culture and communication styles.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Indonesian: Beginners Level 2 course, participants will have developed practical skills and knowledge in areas such as:

  • Asking for prices and making purchases
  • Giving directions and describing locations
  • Reporting simple incidents (e.g. lost items)
  • Writing simple emails and messages

Language development:

  • Sentence structure and word order
  • Pronunciation and fluency
  • Introduction to past, present and future forms
  • Understanding how affixes work in Indonesian
  • Making simple comparisons

Cultural understanding:

  • Indonesian customs and communication styles
  • Practical cultural awareness for real-life situations

Who is this this Indonesian: Beginners Level 2 course for?

This course is suitable for learners who:

  • Have completed our Indonesian: Beginners Level 1 course or have equivalent knowledge
  • Have approximately 20–30 hours of prior Indonesian learning
  • Want to build confidence in speaking and understanding Indonesian
  • Are continuing their language learning for travel, personal interest or professional use
