Join our hands-on Resin Masterclass at Sydney Community College, part of our resin short course program.
Resin art is a vibrant and accessible way to create beautiful homewares, gifts, and wearable pieces, with no experience required. In this hands-on introductory workshop, you will learn how to safely work with epoxy resin, mix colours and effects, and pour resin into a variety of silicone moulds and surfaces.
Through a series of fun and achievable projects, you will build confidence with resin techniques while making your own unique pieces. By the end of the session, you will take home a set of resin coasters, a resin jewellery set or trinket dish, and a wooden cheeseboard with your own resin accent design.
This is a fun, friendly and creative workshop that is ideal for complete beginners and anyone looking for an enjoyable weekend activity. All materials are provided.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this resin workshop, you will have:
- Mix and pour epoxy resin safely and accurately
- Understand how to use pigments and additives for colour and effects
- Use basic pouring techniques to create decorative designs
- Create small functional resin objects
- Apply resin art techniques to timber surfaces, such as a serving board
- Understand the curing process and how to finish resin pieces at home
Course content
What will be covered in this resin workshop?
- Introduction to epoxy resin: properties, safety, workspace setup
- Pigments and additives: pigment powder, glitter, alcohol inks, and inclusions
- Mixing and pouring demonstrations
- Hands-on making: coaster (set), jewellery set or bookmark, trinket dish and a wooden cheeseboard
- Curing, finishing, and troubleshooting
- How to continue resin making at home

Who is this resin homewares course for?
This course is for anyone who wants to learn about using resin.
This course is not suitable for pregnant people.

Course materials
Materials provided
We provide all the required materials, including:
- Resin
- Cheeseboard
- Coasters
- Pigments and moulds
- P2 Respirator mask
- Gloves, table cloths, cups, wooden stirrers, etc
What to bring to class
- You may prefer to bring your vapour mask; they are available from hardware stores. If you feel concerned about the exposure to the resin vapour, please discuss it with your GP before attending the workshop
- Apron to protect your clothes
Additional information
Please note the following:
- Please wear old, closed-in shoes
- Long hair must be tied back
- Not suitable for pregnant women
- A 48-hour curing time is needed for your resin to set. You can collect your pieces from the college after this time.
