Work Health and Safety Policy
Sydney Community College is committed to providing a safe, respectful and healthy environment for employees, contractors, students, and visitors. We recognise that health and safety includes both physical safety and psychological safety (psychosocial wellbeing), including managing risks such as workplace stress, interpersonal conflict, inappropriate behaviour, and unclear roles or expectations.
People are our most important asset, and their health and safety is a core priority. The College aims to maintain a work environment that is safe, inclusive, and free from harm, so far as is reasonably practicable.
Psychosocial Health and Safety
Sydney Community College recognises that psychosocial hazards are workplace risks and will seek to identify and manage these as part of its WHS responsibilities. Psychosocial hazards may include:

Behaviour and Workplace Standards
A safe workplace includes respectful and professional behaviour. Sydney Community College expects that staff communicate in a respectful and constructive manner, concerns are raised through appropriate channels, and staff act within their roles and responsibilities.
Unreasonable behaviour, including bullying, harassment, or aggressive conduct, may present a health and safety risk and may be addressed through appropriate processes.
Consultation and Continuous Improvement
Sydney Community College recognises the importance of consultation in managing health and safety. The College will seek to consider staff feedback regarding workplace risks, review incidents or concerns to identify potential improvements, and update policies and practices where appropriate.
Reporting and Raising Concerns
The College encourages anyone to raise health and safety concerns — including psychosocial concerns — as early as possible. Concerns may be raised through a manager or supervisor, another member of management, the CEO, a teacher, or by emailing us directly. The College will not tolerate adverse treatment of a person for raising a concern in good faith.
