Rose-Marie Hillier

Rose-Marie Hillier is a magazine journalist specialising in decorating, design, architecture and renovation. She is a former Editor of Australian House & Garden magazine and a Professional Colour Consultant, with over 50 years’ experience writing about design.

She has edited interior design books in both Sydney and London, and as a design commentator and photographic stylist has honed a keen eye for detail — one she is generous in sharing with her students.

Rose-Marie has published a memoir reflecting on a life immersed in design, but it is her enduring passion for colour — burnt orange is her favourite — that continues to shape her work.

Rose-Marie has been teaching at Sydney Community College since 2013.
