Keith Whelan
Keith Whelan has worked with both children and adults teaching creative writing workshops and courses since 2007.
From an early career in journalism, as a sub-writer, critic and editor, Keith started teaching in Ireland - at the University of Limerick Adult Education Program - before moving to Australia. He has taught creative writing through a wide range of library workshops, as well as many community colleges and the University of Sydney CCE.
As well as presenting workshops and short courses, Keith has adjudicated a number of writing competitions, and currently teaches "Superhero Science" for CSIRO in NSW.
Keith has attained a Diploma in Journalism & Media Studies from Griffith College Dublin, Ireland, a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Limerick, Ireland and a Master's Degree in Social Change and Development from the University of Newcastle, Australia.
Keith has taught in Ireland, Australia & New Zealand across both the public and private sectors. He presently facilitates Workshops for Universities, TAFE, Community Colleges, Public Libraries and in-house for both public and private sector organisations.
“I like to teach practical, hands-on courses with lots of Q&A as I feel that is the best way for a person to learn. Whilst I provide all educational resources to assist the student with learning, my workshops enable the participant to apply learnings through a series of exercises back into a practical work setting upon completion of the courses”, said Keith.
