Juan Carlos Barreno

Juan is a native speaker of Spanish and French and has spent much of his life between Europe and South America. He holds a Master of Science from the University of Hohenheim in Germany and a Master of Applied Linguistics from the University of New England, Australia, and is currently completing a PhD.

Juan has over 25 years’ experience teaching languages internationally, including in Germany, Peru and Australia. Since moving to Australia in 2011, he has taught Spanish and French at the University of Sydney, Macquarie University, WEA and Sydney Community College.

His teaching style is clear, engaging and encouraging, with a strong focus on communication, structure and learner confidence. Juan brings a global perspective and a good sense of humour to the classroom. In addition to Spanish and French, he speaks English, German, Italian and Portuguese, and is a published poet.
