Matthew Jones

Matthew Jones

About Matthew Jones

Matthew Jones is an Egyptology specialist and experienced educator with a passion for bringing the ancient world to life for adult learners.

He holds a Master of Arts in Egyptology from Macquarie University, where he developed a detailed understanding of Ancient Egyptian history, religion and culture. His studies explored the evolution of Egyptian civilisation from the early dynastic period through to the New Kingdom, with particular interest in belief systems, funerary practices and the role of the pharaoh.

Alongside his academic background, Matthew has extensive experience designing and delivering learning programs for adult audiences. Through senior roles within global organisations, including international law firms, he developed a strong ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, structure engaging learning experiences and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

Matthew’s teaching style is thoughtful, accessible and discussion-driven. He focuses on storytelling and historical context, helping students understand not just what happened in Ancient Egypt, but why it mattered and how this remarkable civilisation continues to influence the modern imagination.

Combining academic insight with a lifelong passion for ancient history, Matthew presents Egyptology in a way that is both intellectually engaging and approachable for learners of all backgrounds.
