Come and join this portraiture drawing studio class to learn and practice how to draw the human face from life with its endless variation and possibilities.

Each session a new life model will be in class so that you can continue to practise your portraiture drawing skills and expression through a variety of media and techniques.

You will receive teaching and support from a practising artist, working with a professional life model to develop your drawing skills and better understand how to represent the human face in your artwork.

With each new studio session, you will build on your drawing skills, train your eye to record quickly and efficiently what you see and practice how to draw your expression and personal view of the subject.

This portraiture drawing studio is designed for all levels, but some drawing experience will be an advantage.

Join our portraiture drawing studio, a place to continue learning and practising your drawing skills in a friendly environment among other artists.

Course content

What will you practice in a portraiture studio session?

Geometric equivalents of the head, neck and shoulders
Cranial masses and their influences on the appearance of the head and face
Monochromatic colour and colour temperature
Light and shadows to create 3D forms
Characteristics of the features and how to observe them in all faces
Adding more power in a portrait by drawing hands interacting with the head and face and more

Who is this portraiture drawing course for?

This course is designed for beginners as well as students with some drawing experience who would like to draw realistic portraits.
