Led by an experienced Remedial Massage Therapist, classes are hands-on and taught in a small group environment, allowing for personalised guidance and plenty of practice. You'll learn how to prepare for a massage, work safely and comfortably, understand important contraindications, and adapt your approach to different needs.
By the end of the course, you'll feel more confident giving a full-body relaxation massage to partners, friends or family, with practical techniques you can continue to develop and use at home.

- Correct posture and safe massage practice
- Preparing a comfortable and relaxing massage environment
- Exploring a range of massage techniques and styles
- Performing stretches and movements on the massage table
- Step-by-step guidance through a full-body massage, including the legs, back, neck, head, chest and arms
- Giving and receiving massage in a guided and supportive setting

Who is this Massage for Beginners course for?
This course is suitable for complete beginners, as well as those with some previous experience who would like to build their confidence and refine their technique.
It is ideal for anyone interested in learning practical massage skills to support relaxation and wellbeing for partners, friends or family.
No previous massage experience is required.
Course venue
2A Gordon Street, Rozelle NSW 2039 (corner of Gordon St & Victoria Rd on the grounds of St. Joseph's Church)
Accessibility: This class is held in an upstairs room with access via approximately 20 steps. The lift is currently out of service. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Course materials
What to bring to class
Please bring the following:
- A sarong or single flat sheet
- 2 large towels and 1 small towel
- A water bottle
- A notepad and pen or tablet device
- Comfortable, warm clothing
Additional information
Please note the following:
- This is a practical, hands-on course in which participants will both give and receive massage. Please let your tutor know at the beginning of class if you have any specific requirements around giving or receiving massage.
- Oils are used during the course, specifically rice bran oil.
- Sydney Community College is an educational organisation dedicated to the provision of quality adult education. Classes are intended to develop skills and knowledge and are not intended as individual therapeutic solutions. In health-related matters, guidance from a suitably qualified health professional is recommended.
