You'll explore Ba Gua Zhang in greater depth, developing foundational practices such as Circle Walking, Linear Stepping and the Single Palm Change. Through focused movement and repetition, you'll work on posture, coordination, balance and whole-body integration while developing a deeper understanding of how intent, rather than muscular force, can shape powerful and efficient movement.
As the course progresses, you'll bring these principles into more dynamic exercises and practical partnered activities. This provides a tangible way to explore the internal principles of Ba Gua, observe how your movement changes and develop greater awareness of the relationship between mind, body and movement.

Week 1: Foundations of flow
Refine foundational exercises and begin introducing more dynamic stepping patterns.
- Introduction to Yin Yang Acupoint Slapping
- Review of Keystone Exercises and Downward Sinking Palm Post Standing
- Introduction to Crane Stepping and the linear four-step turn
- Linear Stepping with Downward Sinking Palm
- Partnered Stationary Piercing Palm practice
Week 2: Movement and stability
Develop balance, coordination and integrated movement through new stepping and palm techniques.
- Review of foundational exercises and Crane Stepping

- Have experience with the foundational Keystone Exercises introduced in the Beginners course
- Want to deepen their understanding of Qi Gong and Ba Gua Zhang
- Are interested in developing more dynamic movement and stepping practices
- Want to explore the internal and martial principles of Ba Gua through practical exercises
- Are looking to develop greater body awareness, coordination and focus
This course builds directly on the Beginners curriculum and is not designed as an introduction for complete beginners.
Qi Gong is a low-impact form of movement, and exercises can generally be adapted to suit different levels of mobility and physical ability. Participants should inform their tutor of any injuries or physical limitations that may affect their participation.
